Solar System Model in Chiapas

For the Universum Science Museum in Chiapas, I created a model that transforms the territory of the state into a cosmic map. Carved in wood, the topography of Chiapas rises and falls like a landscape prepared to cradle the universe itself.
The relief was stained in deep greens, the state border etched in fire through pyrography, then sealed with varnish to preserve its radiance. Upon this earthly terrain, the planets found their place — the vastness of the solar system unfolding in proportion to the state.
It is a piece that binds earth and sky, geography and cosmos, reminding us that the infinite above is also inscribed within the ground we walk.
